1/48 P-40E/K Alignment Jig for the Eduard Kits
Our latest alignment aid design includes a tail jig and wing spar fit to the new 1/48 Eduard P-40 Warhawks. This download is meant to be cut from .060 styrene using the Deep Cut or Kraft Blade from Silhouette and the Knife Blade for the Cricut Maker series.
Cut one out, glue the two jig pieces together, and use it on all your future Warhawk projects. Clamp the spar to the lower wing and glue it in place for accurate dihedral, extra strength, and increased rigidity.
You can also glue it to the completed fuselage and install the top wings first, if you like. Unorthodox, but it will get you the proper dihedral and really clean seams between the fuselage and upper wings. Or even cut yourself a spare and do both. Go for it.
The download includes one 4x6 in (101.6 x 152.4 mm) .svg file, a .dxf copy for Silhouette, and a placement guide.

We’ve test fitted this design to the new Eduard kits, but we tried it on the Hasegawa.and AMT short-tail kits as well. It works well on those, too. Then we got lazy: we have so many 1/48 P-40s in our stash we could have test fit it on virtually everything released, including, B/Cs and the long tail variants. But we had models to build so we just assume it will work on them all. When Eduard releases their P-40N this summer we’ll test it on that and modify the design if necessary. Until then, we’ll pull it out anytime we build a Warhawk. Or a Kittyhawk. Or a Tomahawk.
