We recommend cutting your jig from .040 sheet styrene, since we’ve been able to reliably cut it with a heavy duty blade on both our Silhouette and Cricut machines. But if you can manage .060 or even .080, go for it! And let us know how you did it.
Here’s a simple tool to line up the horizontal tail surfaces on your next 1/32 Spitfire. We designed it on the Tamiya Spitfires VIII/IX/XIV and then we fit it to the Hasegawa Mk.V, the old Revell Mk. I, The new Kotare Mk. Ia, and the Revell Mk. II. It works for them all. We don’t have a Hobby Boss Mk.V on hand, but we’re betting it will fit that as well.
For the Revell Mk. II you might want to widen the opening for the vertical tail just a bit at the bottom. There the kit is a little wider than the others.
Cut one out, glue the two pieces together, and use it on all your future Spitfire projects. The download includes one 4x6 in (101.6 x 152.4 mm) .svg file, a .dxf copy for Silhouette, and a placement guide.
